(Definition from vocabulary.com)
Persnickety is a lively, fancy word for “fussy.” If you’ve sent your salad back to the kitchen three times, you might be a persnickety eater.
The adjective persnickety sounds prickly like a porcupine, and persnickety people can indeed be sharp and prickly when they don’t get things precisely as they wish. I don’t mean to be persnickety about grammar, but you shouldn’t use “ain’t” in an academic paper. If you’re persnickety about your coffee, you’ll probably want to put the cream and sugar in yourself.

Definitions of persnickety

1. adj. characterized by excessive precision and attention to trivial details

“a persnickety job”

“a persnickety school teacher”

Synonyms: pernickety, fastidious

giving careful attention to detail; hard to please; excessively concerned with cleanliness

adj. (used colloquially) overly conceited or arrogant

“they’re snobs–stuck-up and uppity and persnickety”

Synonyms: bigheaded, snooty, snot-nosed, snotty, stuck-up, too big for one’s breeches, uppish, proud

feeling self-respect or pleasure in something by which you measure your self-worth; or being a reason for pride

I may indeed fit under the very descriptive word “persnickety“. I’m thinking it might have something to do with my OCD tendencies, since there are quite a few things I am decidedly persnickety about. However, exactly how to reconcile this with being a bit of a rat pack/hoarder, and the resulting chaos involved, beats me.

I read somewhere that perfectionism comes into play here. It’s a lot of work and stressful to be a perfectionistic, and because I fail, I can actually turn out to be distressingly messy. It’s too overwhelming to manage, to overcome, but I am even persnickety about my mess. It has to be stored or arranged just so.

I’m not sure that I’m horrible about it all. I would need to ask someone else that, since I have a tendency to think I am really quite nice, even when people interfere with my sometimes chaotic order 😉

Persnickety it is…..

Persnickety I be………..

A serious business indeed.

SO THERE!

Haha! 😉

I just realized I am a persnickety blog reader. I am very fussy about what topics I read, mainly because I never have enough time to read all the things that pass before my eyes. Your Persnickety post got my full attention along with your guide to The penultimate word. Good job Ann.
