Passwords!!!!!!

It’s about life on the internet. It will make things easier, they promised, and, so it seemed initially. You could bank, and do so many different things at the click of a button! At home! On your device!
But wait…..
You needed a password for security purposes!
In the beginning, only a four letter word or number was required. That was ok. I could do that and it worked well for years, it seemed.
However, the powers that be decided it was not good enough. You would need to change to a 6 letter code. OK…..
Some time later, a capital letter was required in the code and following that, a number must be included…..oh my!
Pretty soon, the code was not enough. Now several security questions had to be set up to be asked with your own special answers, as extra security you may or may not be asked when signing in….
Suddenly your password was required to be an 8 letter code with a number and a capital. Ugh…..
Eventually that turned into an 8 letter code, with a number and a capital and a symbol! If you forgot your password, you needed to get an email link with a temporary password to use to sign in, in order to change it, and then sign in again with your new password! What next?
Well, next came something new called 2 step verification, requiring everything else plus a text code! This is where I balked with my bank. I was indignant, I refused, and was summarily locked out of my bank account! I just fumed for a few days, and of course, I had to relent and COMPLY, if I wanted to access my money online! Messages back and forth explaining the security need. Good grief! Could things get worse?
Indeed they could, and they likely will. Lately, I’ve been asked also to check in to my google app in many places to make sure it’s really me, despite passwords and everything else! Sometimes I have to copy a strange code correctly or identify crosswalks or bicycles in various pictures to assure that I’m not a ROBOT!!!!! What????
The internet has many good and useful functions, but I believe it is also…….
A TRAP!
An annoying, frustrating, never ending, complicated TRAP.
I believe it will kill us in the end….

Kidding, but not really.
The internet seems to be designed to drive us all crazy!
So much for convenience!
Have a good day!
Don’t forget your password!
Ann
Yeah, it isn’t so easy. I miss the simpler days.
