Found this bit of reading helpful today, in my current situation with Mom.

Update for those praying for my Mom and family:

I was awake most of last night, after only 1 hour of sleep, knowing Dave, my Mom’s husband, was seeing the doctor in the hospital in Scotland re: my Mom and the gaping wound in her leg, because the broken bone had come through her skin.

My brother called me at 4:30 am this morning to say this:

“Dave signed consent form for amputation of my Mom’s leg on Monday.
Apparently it’s a 50/50 chance.
Mom might not survive operation.”

Dave himself sent me text this morning. It says: “Saw doc this morning. Taking her leg off tomorrow and not to expect to much . Will see her tonight ”

He would have been to see her already and perhaps said any goodbyes he felt necessary in case of Mom not making it through this. He must have slept the night and be up again by now, with the +8 hr time difference in UK from me here in BC. So the operation will likely take place in our night tonight, coming up now, which is Monday for them. Do not know if I will sleep waiting to hear, but will try.
