Wow.
This morning I have gone into my posts to try to edit a couple of things and WordPress has WIPED the posts out completely after I press the edit button? The edit screen comes up empty with 0 words. Nothing to edit….I had one post completely wiped and tried to go retrieve it from a reblog. The intro was still there, but the link he had posted went to an empty page 😦 Luckily, that short intro gave me a clue where to look for the original post. I could not find it at first (in my computer notes) and thought I must go back 2 years in Facebook land to find it. However, I DID find it eventually…..
What’s with that, WordPress??????
Anyone else experiencing this?
AAAARGH!

Now I’m scared to try to edit anything! It’s a lot of work to redo things! 😦

Maybe copy the whole thing before you edit, just in case?

But you can’t copy it before the edit screen, can you? Usually when you go to edit, the whole piece is there for you to work on, but there was NOTHING! the edit box showed nothing at all and the word count in it was zero. Why would it DO that? Is it something in my settings?
OK, I tested that theory, and I can indeed copy before I press edit….never had to do that before, though?

And what about all the pics that might have been placed in the article? They might not copy over…..

For me the most frustrating thing is previewing a post, making sure everything is right, hitting publish to find that the post has lost a portion of the formatting. A line in bold followed by breaks–even words sliced in half.

Yes, I have had things like that too, where I have spent time spacing, formatting, and then there it is all lumped together with no spacing etc, not matter how many times I go and try to redo it!

I wonder how many other people are having the same problems with WordPress?

Ok..Do you have a clue about how this is started…I’ll find out. I am now so organized that I have a ‘to do’ list. Tomorrow I’ll research making a poll. I bet it’s easy. What kind of questions should we ask.
1. Is wordpress messing up on you…?
2. do you think it’s all in your head…?
3.

Are you satisfied with the WordPress blogging process?
Are you experiencing problems with the edit function in WordPress?
Has WordPress deleted any of your blog posts without a request from you to do so?
Does WordPress carry out and deliver all of your post formatting changes?

OK..great!
This makes infinitely more sense than ‘do you think you’re imagining it?” 🙂

I’m still working on this…I will get to it this week…

Mine has done that. I actually lost a post completely. Published one day, deleted the next. I am figuring WordPress didn’t like my topic.

They can do that????

Guess they can, since it was gone by the next day. Someone might have reported it or something. I didn’t have a back-up copy, unfortunately.

I try to keep everything backed up now…..

Keeping a back up is a great idea. I had started backing up posts, but I have a lot of posts… I need to get back on that.

Yes. I try to start with an initial post in Notepad and then take it to WordPress, but usually at WordPress, I edit. However, I have most of the back up on Notepad if I need it and any pictures are usually saved on WP.
