God in a box?
“The God of this universe won’t be stapled together, filed, or folded neatly away into any box of our making, no matter how hard we try.”
(I wrote this March 18, 2013, on Facebook, after seeing this picture and reading the following words in a Facebook group page.)

You can’t box up Jesus in Christianity

You can’t box up love in conditions”

It made me think of this scripture:
“Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?” (Exodus 15:11 KJV)
It also made me recall an incident in our little church, which was also used by the Catholic Church congregation at the time. I listened one day as an elder corrected a young boy who was running rampant on the stage and, to my amazement, I heard him explain that the little box sitting there with a curtain on the front contained God, so he should not be playing around there.
I found this corroberation of that idea today (a quote from an online article by Henry Hardinge Menzies, AIA, at catholicculture.org):
A Protestant was visiting a Catholic church accompanied by his Catholic friend, and after entering, he was admiring the beauty of the architecture and decorations. He was particularly impressed with the altar and the tabernacle on top which was surrounded by angels and many candles. He asked his Catholic friend, “And what’s in that box there on the table?” The Catholic replied, “Jesus Christ himself is really present in that box. Our faith tells us that.“
Can we really put God in a box?
Just how would we DO that?
Don’t even TRY to put God in a box.
You can’t!
He’s totally outside of the box…..
