Great story of many kindnesses. I have met some kindnesses in my lifetime too. Love to see this side of people come out 🙂
One morning in Venice, he slipped and fell, and had to be taken to the hospital by water ambulance (an adventure in itself!). A couple of hours later, my Mom called me from the hospital–they were releasing him, but couldn’t give them a ride back (it was a holiday of some sort), so I needed to take his wheelchair to him.
It was raining when I left the hotel with the folding wheelchair. It only weighed about 20 lbs, but it was large and awkward to carry, and there were 17 bridges (all with stairs) between me and the hospital. That was an amazing story… awesome in fact. Hopefully, Americans would still be as friendly, and willing to help someone in such a strain, and need of assistance as Italians were then. Things have gotten so segregated again here in the melting pot of the world again it seems… But, I have faith that we would.
