A taste of FAITH, a touch of LAUGHTER.

Sandcastles in the Air

So much for “sandcastles” in the air.

I keep building them, but they don’t stand, because there is no substance to them….

And so they fall, crumbling around me.

That brings me back to God.

Rightly so.

The real substance I am looking for is only to be found in Christ, not anything of my own making, my own hopes and dreams, my own plans and ideas.

“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Romans 5:5 NKJV

This hope that does not disappoint is the hope that is found in trusting and believing that God is good, loving and kind, and plans only the best for you, no matter what the circumstances of life may look like. It’s a hope that comes to the believer via the indwelling presence and power of the Holy Spirit.

Check out the words to this old hymn that came to mind as I thought about this.

~~~~~
“My Hope is Built on Nothing Less”
by Edward Mote, 1797-1874
1. My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
~
2. When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
~
3. His oath, His covenant, and blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When every earthly prop gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
~
4. When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found,
Clothed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne!
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
~
