Writing 101, Day 9, What do you do when you’re not writing?
Writing is interspersed throughout my day, though I often also have concentrated blocks devoted to writing, when I lose all sense of time and just write furiously. So, what do I do when I am not writing?
I have regular activities. Senior’s yoga, small weights and walking are scheduled for 3 times a week, but sometimes I make it only twice a week, it just depends. Here’s my Senior’s yoga class on a YouTube video. I was interviewed in this clip….I talk about doing yoga for health and flexibility.
I do square dance class once a week, and round class dance once a week, but occasionally there is also an extra workshop or a special dance to attend. Dancing is a fun, social activity.
I volunteer with Better At Home to visit an elderly shut in client once a week in her home. We chat up a storm and have tea and cookies for an hour or two every visit. It’s great!
I volunteer on a ministry music team, singing and playing accordion at Senior’s Residencies on Sundays three times a month and at the local Salvation Army soup kitchen on Fridays.
I try to get out to Serious Coffee on Friday evenings to enjoy local musicians, but I don’t always make it there. It’s so wonderful to be in that musical crowd! It’s my night out….
Other than that, I’m on the computer, writing and posting on Facebook, taking pictures, watching Netflix, or seeing friends. I should be drawing and painting but I rarely get to that, it seems 😦
That’s about it!

I think it’s great for Senior’s flexibility. I’m not into the eastern spirituality part of it, (I’ve been “hauled over the coals” by some for just doing it). I’m just there for the benefit of the physical exercise, which is fine because our teacher does not draw on any of that spirituality either.
