Ann's Corner

A taste of FAITH, a touch of LAUGHTER.

Smiling

This sign is one of the things, amongst many, that make me smile as I do my walking circuit around the mall after yoga and weights. I wonder where the camera is and who is keeping an eye on it, if anyone, but, just in case, I smile anyway 🙂

Last time around, I saw a fellow in the Island Inkjet/Christian Corner store playing what he later informed me was a violin cello. What a sweet, mellow sound pervading the mall walk that day. That brought a smile.

Today, as I was walking, I ran into Bill, who lives in another unit in my residence. He was on his way to the Senior’s Center. I’m not sure what happened to him. He can’t talk or walk very well, but he tries very hard and his face is so full of sunshine that I can’t help but smile. I think he is a very kind man.

I sang at the Salvation Army Lighthouse today with one of our regular ministry team. A lunch is put on for the homeless, the street people, and others who are just going through some hard times. Some of them are staying at the local Salvation Army shelter.

I love this ministry because I get to sing my heart out. Singing makes me smile. The singing is not always perfect, but the words are about the hope and comfort found in God, and because I believe, they minister as much to my own soul and spirit as they might to that of anyone else.

Sometimes I get to share some words about the reason for my hope and joy. Sometimes people clap or sing along, they smile and request songs they want to hear. I see people I know there, from a reserve community that was once my home, and I enjoy a hello and a hug or two.

Back home, I called up a neighbour who is a bit under the weather. I had taken him some lozenges and vitamin C to help tide him over. We had a good chat and laughed about some things. We agreed. Laughter is the best medicine! Haha! 😀

So SMILE! A smile goes a long way. Who knows who might be watching? Who knows, you might make someone’s day! I know a smile or two makes mine 🙂

Go on. Share your smile 🙂

AJ ❤
