I don’t know when I wrote this, but the scripture verse and the questions that arise are as thought provoking today as they were back then….

Do I Really Believe It?
Romans 10:9
9 “Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (AMP)
We can repeat this verse rather glibly, it seems, and we often use it for evangelism.
Sounds so simple, but……
Take this opportunity to think long and hard.
If I SAY Jesus is Lord, does my life back up that statement? Would someone know by looking at my life that this is true?
If I say I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead…..do I really believe it to be a true event in history, or am I just paying lip service to these statements of faith? Do I have any doubts?
Do I really believe that this belief in what God DID is my salvation? Or do I think that there is something I must DO to earn or deserve it?
It sounds simple, but it isn’t really.
Saying these things and BELIEVING them with all my heart, soul and mind will bring about a changed life.
It sounds simple, but it is PROFOUNDLY simple.
That’s why I know it’s God…… ❤
(y) Wow. Perfect commentary on the verse. This makes me think about the day when a well-meaning Christian told me that I was saved just because I mentally assented to the facts in the verse above…but, even as an unsaved person, I remembered thinking, “No, I’m not saved. I believe it with my mind. I believe that it’s fact. But, I don’t want to live up to this faith.” I had confession without true belief. Thanks for posting this. This is one thing I want to add into my outreach presentation on Thursday nights to clarify true faith versus “sinners prayer for salvation.”
