Salisbury Steak, Anyone?

Home care staff and I had this interesting discussion about salisbury “steak” (?) this morning. I brought it up because my son had just arrived in Salisbury, U.S.A. The name made me wonder if that place was where this food item originated.

I have eaten it once or twice and it seemed to be just fancied up ground beef, a bit of a disappointment really! Not something high on my list to have for a meal!

Anyway, I was curious, so I looked it up (Google Granny here) and found this interesting article and video about its origins. It’s obvious that no real credit is given to this man and his health theories even today!

Take a look!

Watch the video!

Dr. James Salisbury, a germ theory pioneer, invented Salisbury Steak to combat illness among Civil War troops.

Maybe I should give Salisbury steak another chance……
😜

Some years ago for some reason was thinking about it. Not sure why, ones I had did taste good, maybe because it was advertised in some survival food.

Burned cave pizza discovery may have saved me. Try it!
