A dear friend and colleague in missions taught me to ask this question of God, especially in times of calamity,
“What do You have for me in this?
What do You want me to LEARN?”
That perspective has seen me through many otherwise difficult situations…….
There is a bigger picture. God’s ways are so different from our ways, often beyond our understanding at the time….but He is much wiser and knows what is best!
So I pray:
Father God, I turn to You and I trust in You now for the wisdom I need to see beyond my immediate circumstances. I trust in Your goodness and faithfulness to see me through the many trials that life can throw at me, to guide me and teach me through each one of them.
You are my Rock and my Salvation. I rest in Your plan, Your purpose and Your direction for me and mine. Thank You for Your love and watch care over us. Your will be done in all things. Amen.
I love You…………….
Your child,
AJ ❤
“What do You want me to LEARN?”” Valuable perspective it is! It’s also reminiscent of Stoicism.
“There is a bigger picture. God’s ways are so different from our ways” Can’t agree more though! 100%

As for Stoicism…… hmmmm! Apparently that involves
“the endurance of pain or hardship without the display of feelings and without complaint”
amongst other things…..
I believe to the contrary that it’s ok to express your feelings and I often do that AND complain BEFORE I remember to pray! 😉
God knows our frame and our weaknesses and is so gracious despite them…..

Stoics are often misunderstood, as per your post they often ask “what can we learn?” I guess even Jonah had to endure his Stoic moment when he cursed the tree and was told that he still needed to learn and understand? Am I pulling it out of proportion a bit? 😉

No, I don’t think so…..
Thank you for the interesting perspective!
Nobody ever gets it all right. Must be because we are human and not God…… 😉
