I went to my first book “reading” at the local library a couple of days ago. Two books by two authors were up for reading and discussion. One was Circle of Stones by Suzanne Alyssa Andrew.
A teacher colleague of mine had invited me. She, Jennifer Manuel, has recently written a book, and though it was not quite in print yet, she read out some segments of her work. Her book is called “The Heaviness of Things that Float”.
It was a pleasant time, and a new experience for me. I think I will try again whenever I can find such another such session. It’s interesting to meet authors and hear what they have to say about their work. I enjoyed the question/answer period but had to cut it short to leave for dance class.
Ok. I was challenged. I know I am a writer at heart, but what kind of a writer am I? That is the big question. I think right now I am all over the place.
I don’t think I am the fiction type of writer. I don’t know if I have that capacity. Not sure I could tackle writing such a book.
I don’t even know if I can write a book based on my reality, though that’s what most of my writing is based on, or things of faith. I don’t know if I have the “stick-to-it-ive-ness” required to actually do it and bring it to completion.
I seem to do well with short stories about life. I can excel in that, I think. Maybe that’s what I ought to be doing.
I think I could complete a devotional book, since I like to write down what I learn about God and I have lots of material for that already. Perhaps it’s a good place to start. We shall see….
The pic is of the event and it looks like I am in it 😉

Hi Ann, you can write a book if you please. It can be complex, or as simple as joining together multiple short related chapters, something you hinted at in your next-to-last paragraph. I hope all is going well.
