The Amazing Molecule

“A molecule is every single one of its resonant structures at every point in time, but it is no single one of its resonant structures at any point in time”

I heard this astounding quote on a video by Nabeel Qureshi, a former devout Muslim who converted to Christianity. He said it came from a former chemistry class teacher. It gave him pause for thought. No wonder!

He questioned why it is that some people have such difficulty with hard concepts about God. Some say they cannot begin to comprehend, and cannot accept these concepts about God, when the science they so readily trust and accept is full of such incomprehensible mysteries, like the one above about molecules. That concept, however, will gain acceptance with some, simply because it is SCIENCE.

Here is his final response to that quote, from the video clip….

“So, what is the problem with understanding the Trinity?” (Nabeel Qureshi)

I LIKED it 😉

P.S. If I am showing my ignorance, which is likely, considering that science was NEVER my best subject (though biology fascinated me no end), please do not hesitate to ENLIGHTEN me!!

Thanks,
AJ

Wow! Chemistry! very little in life is understood well – scientific or otherwise. I heard a radio interview today with a leading expert on the brain. He said that they have no idea how thought processes or memory work or where in the brain it happens. There is a law of physics called Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle, which essentially says no-one can understand everything all at once. Science lesson for today.

      Thanks for your response, Bob!

This is why I don’t understand the difficulty of accepting God by faith, because so much of science is also based on faith in what we can’t really see to be true. I would think knowledge of the wonders of science would LEAD a person to faith in the Living God!

The point of the blog though is that having faith in the truth of the Trinity of God, Father=Son=Spirit, or in anything else about who God is and what He does, is no more daunting a matter than believing what that chemistry teacher said to be true of the molecule, or of anything else in the scientific world! Faith in stated truths about God are worthy of consideration and exploration, in the same manner as one considers and explores scientific principles. Seek truth! 😉

Will check into Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle!
    Thanks!
