This picture popped up just now in my photos when I searched “accordion”!

Hah! It was from when I volunteered weekly friendly visits at an organization called Better At Home, for many years prior to Covid. I forgot all about that article!

I’ve been playing accordion since I was 14, I think, or maybe a bit later, 17? Not sure any more at 77!!!! Memory sometimes fails me! 😜
My Dad had my sister and I join an accordion band from nearby Dunfermline. I learned many new songs there and went on walks playing with the band. It was both tough and fun. Tough to walk (or march) while playing, and fun because we were trying to be the loudest of all the marching bands in the competition.

Notice the old cars…..

The accordion band……
Can you find me?

Many years later we had a studio pic taken at bible school where my husband and I were part of the ministry teams playing and singing in the choir and out and about at various outreach church or senior home events.

My son Ken was away at school so only Tallon got in this pic!
Playing in the Quonset at bible school.

Over time I purchased two different sized accordions (different sounds) and was donated a small student accordion, which though limited was much lighter than the larger ones.

Music is such a blessing in my life, a God given gift. Mom made sure I had piano lessons when I was young, then lessons on the pedal organ, before the accordion came along.
We were a musical family. My Mom loved singing, we would all sing, my Dad played the drums, my brothers had bongoes and maracas and we made a joyful noise together many days.
I do have more pics, so I may post again when I can find them or just add here…..
Just thought I should do this post now, while thinking about it. I was playing my accordion tonight after a long time away. It was too heavy while I was sick but it is ok now. I need to start playing again. That’s my goal!
