A taste of FAITH, a touch of LAUGHTER.

Blogging 101. Who Am I and Why Am I here?

Who Am I and Why Am I here? (Jan 5, 2015)

Hi, I’m Ann.

I’m fairly new to the blogging scene (just a few months old) and just wanting to share some of my writing with a wider audience on a different format than that of Facebook. I have plans to try to write a book some day.

I am 65, years young, with 2 grown sons and one granddaughter, all of whom I love dearly. I’m a retired missionary/teacher/local councilwoman who was born in Scotland, but came to Canada to stay forever in 1972.

I think I have led an interesting life. I have taught adults, children and the children of those children and enjoyed it all very much. I have hitchhiked across Canada (in my hippy days) from one end to the other just to see how big it is. I’ve sold Filter Queen vacuums at the PNE, and cooked burgers at A&W. I’ve lived in a very remote community for many yeas, where I have been a community health representative, as well as pastor of a small church. I’ve also spent a few years in local politics in that small community and been a teacher there for many a year. I now live elsewhere and do a lot of volunteer work, as I am retired.

I lost my husband in 2006, after 25 years of marriage. His heart just burst one day while sitting in his chair at home. He was there one minute and gone the next. Some of my poems are about him. I miss him dearly, but life goes on. I’ve learned to treasure the moments.

I’ve suffered from depression and had a bout with cancer. I have been a woman of faith throughout the last 30 years. I like to draw, sing, play music, keep fit and write my thoughts, in journal form and in poetry, as I mentioned.

When I write, I try to share my faith, to bring a taste of the comfort of God and His strength into someone’s day, to make someone think, smile, and maybe even laugh out loud!

Hopefully I succeed!

Thanks for reading!

I truly loved reading this. You are a woman to admire. Living a full life and finding time to do all those things. I shall be back to read more. 🙂 Cheers. Razor. x

A very good introduction. You have been there and seen it. And you have been very strong through thick and thin and moved on. I like your blog and will be here to read more and comment. Happy New Year. 🙂

You sound like you have a lot to write about, and a lot to offer, Ann. I hope you do write a book! 🙂

I started recording memories. It’s a lot of work and I wonder whether I have the necessary focus for getting the job done. Right now I’m just writing things as they come to mind. Thanks for the encouragement 🙂
